Production Company Runner – Mr Jake Yard

I am an intelligent, ambitious and driven individual, who sets goals and has every intention of reaching them. I am also a very creative person. This creative nature in my personality has followed me throughout my life. I always enjoyed the arts. I acted at a drama group for many years, and could often be found drawing, or writing. I consider myself to be a visual thinker, developing an idea from what I can see in my minds eye. For example, I could be listening to a track on my iPod, and in my head I will have visual thoughts as to how I'd produce the song as a music video, or montage in a film. I feel that by having a creative and fun personality makes me very likeable and easy to get on with. This also means that I am able to work well within a team, but still have the skills to work independently. These skills were demonstrated throughout my college course when I studied a Media Extended Diploma. Most work was dealt with independently, to be produced by yourself, however we also had class exercises in which team work was essential. In these circumstances as well as the independent projects, we were still able to aid our peers and lend advice to one another. I graduated the course with a triple Distinction grade.

My ultimate ambition, as with most people, is to find success in the industry in which I am passionate for. In this case Media. I have always considered presenting and broadcasting as an option, although as the years go on I have developed a love for good film. To be able to write and direct a successful movie would be a dream, to be at the pinnacle of film making and of course, to achieve ultimate acalades such as an Academy Award or Baftas would be incredible. You can't knock me for ambition, that's for sure! I believe that a combination of my personality, interests, life experiences and ultimately my passion for Media production make me a viable, adaptable and employable candidate.

I’ve always enjoyed theatre and film, and joined a drama society with the local university called Cumulus performing in a production called The House of Bernarda Alba.

After completion I joined an improvisation society in order to continue with that passion. Theatre made me look at films and musicals differently, wanting to pursue the production aspect getting the satisfaction of taking the idea and making it grow like with a script as it changes throughout the filmmaking process. I realise that Theatre is different to film but there are similar qualities to both with the preparation and creative direction needed to produce high quality work. I enjoy working within a group being opinionated but able to compromise. I’m strong minded, dedicated and perform jobs to the best of my ability. Work on Student short films and in the Television studio doing the following roles: Vision Mixer, Directing, Editing, Camera and Sound.
In solo pieces I’ve written, directed and edited and in group work taken the role of director and editor. In group situation I try and push for a high role like director or producer, I can do technical roles and work hard in each department, but I prefer a bigger input.
Work with Performing Arts students, which can be difficult yet was an experience. I feel comfortable with the editing programs even after never using the equipment before.

Experience: Childcare for 6 months looking after 3 children aged 3 to 7. Other information: I am part of the extreme sports society skydiving club and also enjoy snowboarding when possible. Hobbies: writing own stories and ideas for films, cooking, watching sports.

I thrive being on set for any film/TV production.

I often work in the camera department on independent productions, but I'm looking for any on-set jobs to build my portfolio of experience. In 2011 I worked as second unit DoP for Idle Films on a Sci-Fi London 48hour entry that was placed 1st in the under 21's and 2nd overall out of 300 teams. I'm currently studying Film and Television Production at University of Westminster in London.
